Heike Schumann wrapped her first necklaces and bracelets as a girl out of copper wire and gave them to her friends.
Today, the old and new craft is the focus of the designer. The development of new materials and techniques, experimenting and transforming of existing things are close to her heart.
The material that makes up her jewelry: plastic bags of polyethylene!
Shopping, waste and vegetable bags are developed in a self prepared elaborate process, compacted, welded together and punched by hand.
The selftrained jewelry designer consciously uses the colors of the materials in order to achieve different effects. Some pieces also include color pigments, which are produced from discarded stone beads. The jewelry pieces made in this way are hand-crafted, colorful, lightweight and each one of a kind.
By the way, the development time from initial idea to market was more than one and a half years.
